Up for sale is my excellent example of a 2000 BMW E36/7 M Roadster. Purchased in 2008 with 66,742 miles on the odometer, this fantastic car is clean inside and out (surprisingly clean underneath, as well) and has been a California car for its whole life. You really have to see this car in person to truly appreciate the condition that it's in. Below is a list of the noteworthy service items/fixes that have been taken care of during my 2.5 years of ownership.
5/'08 - Worn OEM shift knob and faulty headlight switch replaced by dealership at time of purchase
7/'08 - Worn OEM clutch arm bushings replaced with UUC Ultra High Molecular Weight Acetal clutch arm bushings
7/'08 - Worn window sliders replaced (driver's and passenger's side), tracks cleaned, and tracks lubricated
11/'08 - Belts and all three idler pulleys replaced (bearings were worn)
11/'08 - Partial coolant change
11/'08 - Transmission fluid changed (Red Line MTL) and differential oil changed (Red Line Synthetic Gear Oil for LSD)
11/'08 - Spark plugs replaced
12/'08 - OEM headlight housings replaced with Umnitza ProjectorZ II housings (with 35W HID lamps), LaminX protective film applied to housings prior to installation
3/'09 - Fuel filter replaced
5/'09 - Air conditioning belt tensioner replaced
6/'09 - New high performance all-season Kumho Ecsta ASX tires installed on all 4 corners (they currently have about 4k miles on them & lots of tread left)
6/'09 - Alignment performed (still have alignment sheet)
7/'09 - Worn OEM rear subframe bushings replaced with Ireland Engineering Polyurethane bushings (noticeable handling improvement)
9/'10 - Worn OEM rear shock mounts replaced with Meyle Heavy Duty mounts with reinforcement plates
10/'10 (about 600 miles ago) - New Hawk High Performance Ceramic brake pads, Zimmermann brake rotors, and OEM pad wear sensors installed
10/'10 - Hydraulic lines (brake & clutch) flushed with fresh fluid
10/'10 - New flex disc (giubo), transmission mounts, selector shaft seal, and selector shaft joint installed
Oil and filter changes performed regularly with Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic oil and Mann/Mahle filters
Most recent oil & filter change: 10/'10 (about 600 miles ago)
Interior leather was conditioned annually with Leatherique
This Z3-based M Roadster has been very well cared for but, like with any used car, it does have a few quirks:
- The volume knob on the BMW factory radio is a bit schizophrenic--sometimes you'll get large changes in volume with small adjustments and sometimes it works correctly. This hasn't really been a bothersome enough issue for me to spend the time to fix it since I almost never use the stereo (I'd rather listen to the car...even on long trips).
- The HID projector headlights could use some adjustment--the lights seem to be aimed a little low.
- The engine exhibits a bit of the known VANOS "rattle" issue which affects all BMW M50TU, M52, US S50, S52, M52TU, M54, and M56 engines from 1992-2006. I had it looked at by Dinan in Mountain View and was told that since the car runs great, there's no reason to worry about it. They mentioned that if the sound *really* bothered me, then they could replace the VANOS with a new one from BMW but the sound would just come back. VANOS modification kits can purchased from Beisan Systems for $60 ($30 for the Viton o-rings & $30 for the VANOS piston bearing ring which removes the axial play that causes the rattle).
Included with the car are custom-cut black 40oz. nylon carpeted floor mats ($99), custom Coverking Stormproof 2-tone car cover ($359), a spare Mann oil filter kit, and whatever else I have sitting around that I feel like throwing in. :-)
NADA retail for this car is $17,250 when mileage is taken into account. I'm asking $14,500 or best reasonable offer. E-mail me at [removed] if you're interested. More photos can be found here: http://mforsale.petrastech.com/roadyDetails.html
